Hi, I’m Emily White, a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate life’s challenges. Whether you are experiencing life transitions, family conflict, anxiety, depression, or working to heal from traumatic experiences, I provide compassionate support tailored to your needs. My goal is to guide you toward emotional and physical healing, offering the tools and space you need to move forward with resilience and purpose.
Professional Training and Approach
I hold a Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Kentucky with a concentration in clinical social work, a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Stockton University. My professional training includes:
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
- Professional Maternal Mental Health Certificate Training
These evidence-based practices inform my holistic and personalized approach, ensuring each session is tailored to empower clients as they embrace their authentic selves. For couples, I utilize my training in the Gottman Method, a highly regarded, evidence-based framework that fosters lasting relationship success.
I also am certified in Posttraumatic Growth Certification from the Boulder Crest Institute. It is my belief that my commitment to continuing education enhances my ability to support individuals and couples as I incorporate both clinical intuition and cutting-edge techniques.
Volunteer Work and Community Engagement
Outside of my clinical practice, I am passionate about giving back. I proudly serve on the advisory board with Warrior Community Connect and have facilitated therapeutic couples retreats for veterans and their spouses. These experiences underscore my belief in the transformative power of connection, community, and growth through adversity.
Academic and Research Focus
During my time at the University of Kentucky, my research centered on posttraumatic growth (PTG) and its intersection with sports social work. This focus reflects my commitment to understanding how individuals can thrive after adversity and how mental health services can empower athletes to achieve personal growth.
